Understanding Antizionism
The IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism is an internationally recognised tool for identifying and understanding contemporary antisemitism. It describes antisemitism as “a certain perception of Jews which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews,” and includes examples to help distinguish it from legitimate criticism of ideas and policies.
Australia is a member country of the IHRA and formally adopted this working definition in 2021, reflecting its commitment to recognising and addressing antisemitism in government, society, and public discourse.
This resource created by Josh Frydenberg, former treasurer of Australia, presents a powerful and emotional documentary on the devastating impact of antisemitism on Australia following the horrendous terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2025. The documentary examines the rise in hostility towards Jewish people taking place in Australia and around the world at levels not seen since the Holocaust.
Note that this documentary was made before the Bondi Beach terrorist attack on the Jewish community at a Channukah celebration on 14 December 2025.

There may be those unwilling to engage with you in constructive conversation and debate, however it is very important to explore and understand the truth and lived experiences from history and about the current situation for both Jews and Israel.
References have been provided to present a variety of voices, not hostile to Israel and Jews, on each topic.
